The Government's national response to Samoa's ongoing energy crisis has entered its third week, with new rental generators from Aggreko New Zealand now delivered and being installed at Fuluasou. The EPC confirmed the arrival of the first shipment last week, followed by a second load that landed on Sunday, 13 April.
The Corporation now provides power to 98 per cent of the population of Samoa. EPC is also subject to the: Tariffs are set by the Electricity Regulator in compliance with the Electricity Act 2010.
To date, works continue for further developments of its existing generation and distribution network. As mandated to generate, distribute and sell electricity supply to all of Samoa, the EPC has connected up to 99% of Samoa's population. Increased access by all people of Samoa, to quality and affordable electricity supply.
An Emergency Order has been issued under the Proclamation of Emergency. It allows temporary exemptions on import duties and taxes for approved energy-related equipment purchased between 17 February and 29 April, as long as the goods arrive in Samoa by 29 June. Applications must go to the Comptroller of Customs with proper documentation.
