Highlighting the rapid expansion of the 5G services, the Ministry of Communications has stated that since its introduction in
India had 469,000 5G base stations at the end of February, according to the latest available figures from the country's Ministry of Communications. The ministry said the number of active 5G subscribers in the country surpassed 250 million in the period – in less than two and a half years since 5G was commercially launched.
The Indian government has reckons 5G coverage now extends to all states and 99.6 percent of districts nationwide. India had 469,000 5G base stations at the end of February, according to the latest available figures from the country's Ministry of Communications.
As of January 2025, the total number of 5G base transceiver stations in India is 467,620, while the country has around 821,667 installed telecom towers as of February 2025. However, pegged at 44 per cent, India's tower fiberisation rate still has significant scope for improvement.
New Delhi: India's telecom sector witnessed groundbreaking advancements in 2024, with the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) achieving several milestones, including the installation of 4.62 lakh 5G Base Transceiver Stations (BTS) and an internet subscriber base touching 96.96 crore by June.
