The Southwest of Buenos Aires remains a key pillar in wind energy. The Southwest of Buenos Aires continues to be a key player in wind energy, hosting 18 out of the 69 wind farms across the country. In October 2024, these projects injected 330 GWh of electricity, equivalent to 23.1% of the total renewable energy nationwide.
As of October 2024, Buenos Aires had 26 wind farms, surpassed only by the Patagonian region with 28 projects. With 18 ventures in our area, the region contributes one out of every four parks in the country and injects 23.1% of the total renewable energy.
Although this figure is significant, it represents a setback of 8.7% compared to the same month of the previous year. Despite the slowdown, a report from the Regional Center for Economic Studies of Bahía Blanca, Argentina highlights that the province of Buenos Aires remains essential in wind energy on the national scene.
The current figures are higher than those of October 2021 and 2022 (+5.2% and +8.6%, respectively), although below October 2023, when the injected energy reached 362 GWh (-8.7% year-on-year). As of October 2024, the energy from the Southwest of Buenos Aires represented 58.4% of the provincial total and 23.1% at the national level.
