Global solar module prices mixed on varying
In a new weekly update for pv magazine, OPIS, a Dow Jones company, provides a quick look at the main price trends in the global PV
Average EXW prices from distributors for residential solar panels are reported between €0.125/W and €0.100/W, depending on the volumes. US DDP: The spot price for TOPCon utility-scale modules DDP US rose this week from 0.71% to $0.284/W.
N-type modules accounted for the majority of shipments from several top-tier manufacturers. Jinko Solar, the top global shipper, reported that over 87% of its 2024 shipments were N-type. However, TOPCon remained the leading advanced technology, with average conversion efficiencies exceeding 24%.
According to Wood Mackenzie's report, China continues to dominate the solar module manufacturing landscape in terms of scale, but emerging challengers from India, South Korea, and Vietnam are rapidly closing the gap as global production becomes more geographically diverse.
Incentives such as the Inflation Reduction Act provide credits for module assembly, cell production and polysilicon manufacturing. Domestic solar module capacity rose 190 percent in 2024 to more than 51 GW and created over 33,000 jobs. Industry data show that 8.6 GW of new module capacity was added in Q1 2025.
