For instance, during colder months, demand for electricity can surge, leading to higher prices. Similarly, global events such as geopolitical tensions or changes in energy policies can also impact the cost of electricity. As of now, the average electricity price in Sweden is around 65 öre per kWh.
We collect hourly prices for electricity in Sweden's different areas directly from the Nordpool electricity exchange. These prices, which are originally quoted in Euro, are converted into Swedish kronor using the current exchange rate from the Riksbank.
In Sweden, the electricity market is divided into four price areas to better regulate electricity prices. These areas are as follows: Luleå (SE1): Northern parts of Sweden, including Luleå and Norrbotten. Sundsvall (SE2): Central parts of Sweden, including Sundsvall, Gävle, and Dalarna.
These prices, which are originally quoted in Euro, are converted into Swedish kronor using the current exchange rate from the Riksbank. It is important to note that the prices quoted do not include additional costs such as electricity certificates, surcharges, energy tax, VAT or fees for the electricity network.
