Can I run power to a shipping container? Off-Grid Solar Solutions
Shipping containers are often used as remote offices, workshops or data shelters on construction sites, farms, and emergency zones. When the grid is hundreds of feet away
Solar power can power most equipment at a construction site, making it a viable option to end dependence on traditional energy and fossil fuels. Solar power is one of the fastest-growing renewable energy resources in the United States.
Solar-powered construction sites work on a combination of three components; solar panels, battery storage, and solar generators, each performing its part in providing clean renewable energy to construction operations. Solar panels are the core of any solar electricity generating system as they are used to convert sunlight into electricity.
We put solar panels on a container for a guy who was powering an RV on his land. He had a generator, and the container was full of batteries to support himself. When we're on top of a container, we need to build a custom racking system to hold up more than one row of panels, which what we ended up doing for him. (See in image with tan container.)
Solar power can be an effective solution for temporary power needs at a construction site. A solar power generator offers lower fossil fuel consumption because it doesn't require gasoline or diesel fuel to run and it removes the burden of connecting to the grid and using power boxes for your equipment.
